Notes from Nick Holmes, 2014:
Biological parents were Joseph William HANSON & Ida Agnes HOOD.
Raised by Joseph William & Mary Jane HANSON.
Birth registration: Mother's name recorded as Agnes HOOD. Father's name not recorded.
Death certificate erroneously records father's name as William HOOD and mother's name as Agnes HOOD (nee HOLMES).


19. Joseph Frederick William HOLMES

Notes from Terry Moulin, 2002:
His nickname was "Doughy". He worked at Beresford's as a baker and pastry-cook.
He went to Sydenham Primary school & Christchurch Boys' High.
Had trouble with lungs.
Also employed by Templetons/Marldon Cake Kitchen, Armagh St. Employee of Para Rubber also and also worked at Broadway Bakery.
Kept a boarder, Arthur Gray.
He was aged 20 when Clive was born.


32. Herbert Clive HOLMES

Notes from Terry Moulin, 2002:
Was in NZ Navy. At Peace Treaty signing of WW2, also on the warship Archilles, and Gambia? also.
One daughter adopted, one son a cop.
Started as message-boy at Buntings, went on to manage Briscoes, Buntings [Bon Brush Co].
He played hockey and attended Woolston Primary school.
Worked for Buntings in Wellington and then sent to Auckland and employed by Briscoes.
He likes playing bowls.
On 1999 Hunua Electoral Roll.
Lived at 28 Edmond St, Chch in 1954-56 and was a warehouseman.
Wed at age 26.


33. Rex Hood HOLMES

Notes from Terry Moulin, 2002:
In NZ Navy, at WW2 Peace Treaty signing & on warships Archilles & Gambia.
Played rugby league. He had no children.
Went to Woolston Primary school. Lived in Petone.
Employed at Freezing Works.
Was on oil tankers and at the Lyttleton wharf.


35. Neil Frank HOLMES

Had a beach house in Aussie Played Hockey & Cricket.


20. Irene Caroline Phyllis HOLMES

Notes from Terry Moulin, 2002:
Her nickname was "Sweety". Worked at Bristol Piano Co, office.
Rep hockey player for Canterbury. Also a good knitter.
Had diabetes and had one hand removed with gangrene.
Attended Miss Digby's Typing School.


36. Patricia Audrey EDEN

Played hockey.Employed at Whitcomb & Tombs Factory during the 1950s.
Suffered from Asthma.
Pat, Nig & Robyn were in the UK working for a year & touring in a caravan.
